Mark Inch

Major General (ret.) Mark Inch previously served as the 15th Provost Marshal General of the Army, Commanding General (CG) of the Criminal Investigation Command (CID) and Army Corrections Command, Executive Manager of the Defense Forensics and Biometrics Agency, Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons and Florida Secretary of Corrections. He served as Member of the Council on Criminal Justice Veterans Justice Commission which conducted a 3-year examining the extent and nature of veterans’ involvement in the criminal justice system and developing recommendations for evidence-based policy changes that enhance safety, health, and justice.
Throughout his career in criminal justice, his policies emphasized preparing inmates for life after incarceration through education, vocational training, and treatment programs. He focused on reducing recidivism, which aligns with a broader trend toward reformative justice. His approach balanced maintaining safety within the correctional system and offering opportunities for inmates to turn their lives around and successfully reintegrate back into society.
Mark holds a B.A. in Biblical Archaeology from Wheaton College, M.A. in Geography (Middle East/Africa focus) from the University of Texas at Austin, and MMAS in Military Operational Art and Science Studies from the U.S. Army Command. He is recipient of numerous professional awards and commendations including the highest honor awarded by the American Correctional Association, the E.R. CASS AWARD FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT IN CORRECTIONS. Now semi-retired, he divides his time between family, prison ministry, and reentry efforts, and personally engaging in the advancement of the corrections profession as an author, speaker, consultant, and executive mentor.
